The Eclectic Academy of Learning will be coming to the Beaufort area this coming 2013-2014 school year. The Eclectic Academy of Learning is a homeschool interrelated interactive class started by Jill J. Dixon, B.S.Ed., M.Ed. in 1997. Students in grades 3-12 learn all language arts (literature, literary analysis, critical reading, grammar, editing, vocabulary, writing), history, humanities, geography, speech and drama, critical thinking, art, art history and extensive SAT and ACT Verbal preparation through various proven educational methods (Classical, Charlotte Mason, Unit Studies, Core Knowledge, Learning Styles/ Multi Intelligence theory and traditional) in a hands-on interactive classroom environment that meets one day per week for 5 ½ hours. Students are given work to complete at home weekly. Classes are taught by trained instructors/homeschool moms who love children and learning. High Schoolers receive 3-5 credits per year. The class is based on a four year rotational study of history.
