Chris Cushman Update

From Charlotte Cushman:

Hello everyone – thank you so much for all of the support, love and outpouring of kindness! Our family is so blessed to have you all as friends.

Update –

As most of you know Chris was involved in a work related accident on Friday night. He was hit by a car while on duty working an accident that had happened previously that night.

He was flown to MUSC because he had multiple injuries. His injuries are serious, but we are very thankful that they were not catastrophic.

He is in the surgical trauma ICU at MUSC. He has suffered multiple fractures including broken ribs. He will likely have surgery on Thursday. Although he is very alert and in good spirits the next few days will be critical to the speed of his recovery. Because of his rib fractures, breathing takes all of his energy and he is very easily worn out. Because of this we are asking that he have no visitors.

All of you that know him will know that he is anxious to get back on the “road” and in order to do that we need to avoid infection and he needs to conserve all his strength to heal.

We will be eager to see all of you as soon as he gets past this very critical stage.

Also now that I have my phone I will be able to update and communicate with everyone again so you will know how he is doing. Although I may not be able to respond to everyone individually – I will do my best to check all of my messages and respond to things that are pressing.

I have a place to stay in Charleston – and the Beaufort Police Department is taking very care of us as well as all of our family at Community Bible Church.

The children are all staying with friends and Zachariah J. Cushman is still home from college.

Please feel free to share this update and we ask for prayer for Chris’ healing and upcoming surgery.

Our love to all of you. char
