KIDS LIFE INFO ….PLEASE READ!!!!

Hey KidsLife Moms and students,
As you have probably already heard and read we are making some changes in our program this year. If you plan to attend, please continue to read and find out about the changes before you attend in September.
First and biggest change is that we have a fitness program for students but it will not be the Presidential Program although our students will still be doing the mile walk/run, shuttle run and the strengthening exercises. Goals have been set using the guidelines to Presidential and students will be rewarded for meeting goals and participation. Our new program is now called FitKidz. It is our desire to motivate the students to be fit and healthy for life so we will also be teaching some lessons on eating healthy and using some incentives each time to encourage them to exercise regularly as a part of their daily life and not just show up to work out a couple of times a month. All students will be asked to walk/run at their own pace each meeting but not all have to participate in the strengthening exercises. It would be best if all students wear tennis shoes to the KidsLife meetings. We really feel when the kids hear about the incentives and fun goals we are setting that every child is going to want to participate with their friends.
Next the students will be participating in service projects each meeting. Students will meet in the fellowship hall to hear about the ministry/charity that we are working for that meeting and they will complete a project while there. This part of KidsLife is called Fadz2Faith. We look forward to having T-shirts available for the students to purchase and also plan on meeting on other dates to allow students to serve others as well as incorporate the FitKidz into the extra meetings. The extra dates and meetings will be optional and information about those events will be sent home through the KidsLife program.
All students will be participating in the FitKidz and Fadz2Faith for one half of the morning and then for the second half 2nd-4th graders will meet with teachers who will divide the class and teach a unit theme lesson which incorporates writing, history and art into the theme of the day. Preschoolers and K-1st graders will also learn and complete activities focused on the theme of the day/month. First graders will also be able to participate in the FitKidz in their classroom. A volunteer will come to their class to take them for the walk/run and teach them the fitness information.
5th -8th graders will attend class with Mr. Bob Dillashaw for their second half of the morning where he will teach art appreciation/history. We have also posted some information about a Physical Science Lab that will be offered for 7-9th graders during the 11:00 session. You must email Evelyn if you want your student to attend this lab and students must be using the Apologia Physical Science Curriculum throughout the year. There is no information about this class on the registration for Woman’s Life. As of today we have 7 openings left. Any student 8th through 12th grade who would like to be a volunteer with younger children will also be considered if you contact Evelyn. We will need more volunteers this year to help us with the younger children in the fitness program and service projects.
Yamarilly Serrano will be teaching College Prep Genius: The No Brainer Way to SAT Success during the 11:00 session. If you have a student in 9-12th grade that is in attendance on Woman’s Life days we will be assuming your student is attending this class if he/she has not volunteered to serve younger children or if daughters are not attending small groups with their moms. The class is open to any 8th graders who wish to attend as well. Please email Evelyn if you have an 8th grader wishing to attend.
If you have any questions, please reread this information and the other posts prior to this one and then feel free to call me 521-0626 or email me cbcevelyn@gmail.com with your questions.
The only information you have to fill out on your children for registration is their names and grade level. And yes, all children must be registered before attending. Avoid the long lines and sign up soon. We think your kids are going to be thrilled with the changes so plan on attending this year. I welcome any moms who would like to help for half of the morning. Just email or call me. Thanks!
