2017–18 SOUTH CAROLINA JUNIOR SCHOLARS PROGRAM
General Information
The South Carolina Junior Scholars program identifies current eighth-grade students with exceptional academic talent. These students are selected based on their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT or by recognition from Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP).
This year’s PSAT/ NMSQT dates are Wednesday, October 11; Saturday, October 14; and Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Students must be tested at pre-approved middle school sites.

The South Carolina Department of Education is not involved with test administration.
South Carolina Junior Scholar qualifications are those eligible students who:
- Score 550 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing portion of the PSAT/NMSQT; or
- Score 530 or higher on the Mathematics portion of the PSAT/NMSQT; or
- Participate in Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP) during his/her seventh-grade year, met the eligibility requirements as outlined by that program, and be invited to attend either the State or Grand Recognition Ceremonies.
