Hey Everyone!

School is winding down and summer is almost here. Cross Country season will start before you know it. Get a jump on your running and join us Mondays at 7am at the Burton Wells Rec parking lot as we work to increase our endurance and decrease our times. The sooner you start the better as it is going to get really hot.

All are welcome. Moms & Dads can just walk with the others who are walking. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. We are looking forward to a fantastic second CC season for CBCCA athletes.

Would you please help us show our appreciation for our Beaufort City Police officers!!!

The week of May 15th is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week.

During this time 6 of our newest LEO family members will be at the Police Academy in Columbia away from their Brothers & Sisters in Blue as well as thier own families. Would your family be willing to make thank you cards, draw pictures, write a note or any other show of thanks for these 6 Officers?!

If so, please contact me at heartlandhomestead3@gmail.com or by text/call at 8434416798. I must have everything together by May 14th before lunchtime. My husband is one of these 6 and he will be returning to the Academy after lunch that Sunday.

Thank you very much!
Megan

PS feel free to stop in to the BPD during office hours anytime that week to drop of anything or say thank you. Many men and women are there everyday in the office 🙂

It’ Book Blast Time!

School is coming to a close and summer is on its way.  That means it’s also time for our annual Book Blast, a Low Country used homeschool book sale.  In fact it is only a month away!

Before I get into the details of the sale, including how to enter books into the bar code system, I want to share some exciting news.  To improve your check out experience, we are buying another scanner!  Currently we have two and a third person who can manually enter tickets, but as anyone who has been to the store on payday weekend knows, that’s just not enough.  We have so many great deals each year and the registers always get over crowded.  So to help with the flow, we are getting a third scanner which should speed up check out times.  To cover the cost of the scanner, we have raised the seller fee to $6.50.  Since this fee is still well below the average seller’s fee, we hope this slight increase won’t prevent any potential sellers from participating.  It is still free to shop.
Alright, on to business.
The Book Blast is June 9th and 10th.
  • Drop Off Day is Friday, June 9, from 1-7PM

*If you are not local and don’t want to drive to Beaufort two days in a row, please email us soon for information on an early pick up.

  • Shopping Day is Saturday, June 10, from 9AM-1PM
  • Book Pickup is Saturday, June 10, from 2-3:30PM

*Please allow us this hour to organize any leftover books. We will have a special room set up for those wishing to wait on campus.

To use the super simple bar code system, go to https://www.myconsignmentmanager.com/checbookblast/ and register. Instructions can be found here: http://tonyandmay.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Barcode-instructions.pdf
If you need help using the barcode system or don’t have access to a computer, feel free to call or text us.  We will gladly meet up with you to help however you need.
You can still create manual tickets, but there is a 10% processing fee.  For more information on manual labeling, click here http://tonyandmay.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Manual-Instructions.pdf
For more information about this year’s Book Blast, checkout here: http://tonyandmay.com/book-blast
And we are still looking for volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer, please email or call Heather at findlay@hargray.com as soon as possible so we can organize and see where we still need help.

I have scheduled a field trip for any 5th grade, middle/high school kids and their parents to visit the Mighty Eighth Museum. The fee is $5 and they will give us a guided tour. Fee is for parents as well.
I asked the guide to make the tour appropriate for middle/high school students. Younger children will not be included in the guided tour and all students need an adult supervisor whether it is a parent or a friend’s parent. Thank you for understanding about the younger children. Also they only accommodate about 30 students so that is another reason I have limited it to the older kids.
The tour is Monday, May 8th at 10:00. Arrive a little early as everyone will pay individually at the door. Everyone needs to make their own travel/car pooling arrangements. If you can, please, send me a short email or text if you plan to attend.
Thanks, Evelyn Owens
