As I have been meeting to encourage and help homeschool families, I sense that there are many who need encouragement in the homeschool journey. This post came in my e-mail this morn and I must confess, self-condemnation is a sin that I have asked the Lord to root out of my own life. On the flip side, one of my love languages is “words of affirmation,” so the combo can really trip me up sometimes! This article and podcast is a great reminder and encouragement to all who struggle with comparing themselves to others! It is for freedom that Christ has set us free…don’t be subject again to a yoke of slavery. You can read the short article, “Happiness Comes From Liking Yourself: Living Beyond Self-condemnation” at http://sallyclarkson.com/blog/
Blessings to you with joy in the Lord,

Thanks in advance!
Testing Info
Do you have a child struggling to read? Is the thought of another test to fail have your stomach in knots? Don’t forget that CBCCA has an alternative to the PASS or Stanford Test, the Brigance Test. This is especially geared toward struggling or non-traditional learners and is a great alternative to assess students’ abilities and can help provide for clarity in discerning curriculum choices, goal setting, and school year planning. This test will be offered by CBCCA on a case by case basis in lieu of PASS or SAT tests. Please call Claudia at the office if you would like more information.

Poll!
Dear friends, I have wanted to provide a home school ID for many years. With our new database I may be able to finally do that. I can have it print out family ID badges which would include parents names and all the children along with the CBCCA logo. I would have to add data such as the current school year. I know these are helpful for discounts etc. I don’t want to have too much info on there for security reasons, but what other info do you think should be on there, if any? For example, is your address necessary? Do you want individual ones for each student??? I can upload pictures as well-provided you send them to me.
Let me know, thanks-Claudia

Job(s) Available
FROM GAYE MCNAIR;
Lowcountry Produce restaurants in Lobeco, downtown Beaufort, and on Hilton Head are looking for employees asap. They need waiters/waitresses, kitchen help, dishwashers. (Some positions are for as young as 15. )They contacted me because they have LOVED the Christian homeschoolers who have worked for them. They are hoping some of our young people might be looking to earn money for mission trips, or employment experience. The note below is from Campbell Thorpe. His contact info is campbell@lowcountry.com. While this is not a Christian business per se, it has been a good employer of my daughter, Frances. The downtown restaurant does sell alcohol on their menu, but Campbell said our young people wouldn’t have to literally serve it. He added they don’t sell it at Lobeco or Hilton Head restaurants. The following is from him:
Gaye, we are not only looking for young people, anyone who has availability of 2, 3 or 4 hrs a few days a week can also be used for preparing salads or doing prep work for the kitchen staff. In this scenario, the prep person would report at 2:00 or 3:00 and leave at 4:00, 5:00 or 6:00depending on consistent availability a few days a week. This would be for BFT or the Farmstand. Hilton Head is larger and the person could report almost anytime that fits their schedule as long as it a consistent availability over several months. The keys are a good attitude, willingness to learn, following a recipe and measuring ingredients, being on time and cleanliness. We can teach the rest. Thank you!
