Homeschool advice needed!

REALLY WANT TO HOMESCHOOL!
As of now, my daughter has been going to public school here in Beaufort. Over the past semester too much has been going on at the school for me to be comfortable with here going there any longer. The biggest problem I am facing is being able to afford it. I am pregnant and out of work (except Army Reserve duty once a month), and my husband (although currently on active orders) will also be out of work after his school is finished in Feb. I am looking for resources to ether reduce the cost of homeschooling or free resources (ex: websites for worksheets, curriculum someone is willing to let me borrow, assistance from other parents to help me get started and find the right path… especially since we are starting this in the middle of the school year) We do plan on joining CBCCA once winter break ends.
My daughter is currently in 3rd grade, however we may bump her up to 4th grade curriculum (She was making straight As at her school and as of winter test scores, has a high enough MAP Test score to pass 3rd grade and be well into 4th.) We plan to make the decision on where to start the beginning of the week.
If anyone out there has any advice or help, please let me know, It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mrs Pizeno

SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED
#1 – The Civic Center has booked another group with our group this year and so they are at MAX capacity for our session. They required payment on DEC 8, and I only paid for those that signed up, plus 10, to allow for late comers. We exceeded that by about 20!! In the past, this hasn’t been a problem because they never booked a large group with ours, like they are doing this year, so we have no wiggle room!!
#2 – Because of this, we’re overbooked, so I’m looking for adults that are willing to NOT skate this year, in order for the kids to have a good time. Basically, I need about 20 adults to sit out this year, and we can arrange this down there depending on how many actually show up. Thank you for understanding, and I do apologize.

Available Scholarships:
Beaufort County South Carolina: Two $1,500 scholarships for the academic year 2015-2016 are available for high school seniors attending any public or private high school in Beaufort County.
Program Guidelines & Priorities:
* Seeking graduating seniors with a record of service to country or in the community, in non-school sponsored activities, and participation in extracurricular school activities.
* Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 with intent to attend 4 year college.
* It will be the student’s responsibility to adhere to the IRS Publication 970 rules for possible tax implications of this award.
* Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation. One letter should attest to the academic excellence and potential of the candidate, the second should focus on the candidates service to the community or country. Letters of recommendation should be from teachers, mentors, coaches, community or spiritual leaders etc. Applicants are encouraged to provide meaningful letters of recommendation, understanding that multiple letters without substance do not increase the quality of the application.
* Applicants must have the endorsement of their Guidance Counselor on their application attesting they are a qualified fit for this scholarship program. MCAA The Great Santini Squadron strongly suggests that each high school present this opportunity to all qualified applicants that match this program’s guidelines. Scholarship applications will be reviewed, and recipients selected, by a committee consisting of active members of MCAA The Great Santini Squadron. The scholarships will be awarded in May 2015.

Labels for education
The holiday season is here and most of us spend a little time in the kitchen. The Labels for Education program now allows us to save up our points for Visa cards. We can in turn use these cards to help offset the cost of field trips that we take throughout the year (like the ice skating trip this month).
Please print and share this collection sheet with your family members and even members of our church. Cutting, gluing, counting – its the perfect homeschool activity for our little people. Lets see how many we can get turned in by January 4. If you don’t have it completely filled in, turn it in anyway. You may find some 5 point or even 10 point UPCs along the way. Just keep those in a safe place and turn them in along with your collection sheet. ** Please note that they do like us to use glue rather than tape. They recycle and tape makes it more difficult.
Remember that it isn’t just Campbell Soup Labels – Bic, Dannon, Emerald, Pace, Pepperidge Farm, Pop Secret, Post, Prego, Spaghettios, Swanson, V8 (Original, Splash and VFusion) are some of the featured Labels for Education providers. If the sheets are too much trouble, just take off the labels and save them in a bag. We will take care of all the trimming for you. Just place your labels in the Childrens Building box located behind the old sanctuary in the supply room on the wall (look for the copy machine). We pick them up every Sunday. You can put your Tyson Chicken Labels as well as your box tops in there.
I’ve included a Box Top sheet as well for your gluing pleasure! For more info on products that have box tops or for coupons and bonus box top info, please visit www.btfe.com
As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
Blessings,
Katrina.
