Looking for a temporary home for our cat.  We are moving and cannot take her with us while we are renting for a few months in-between houses.  She’s about 5 years old, solid gray, calm and good with kids (and tolerates nice dogs).  She lives mostly outside, but sleeps in the garage if the weather is cold.  She comes in the house occasionally but she can’t seem to understand the concept of a litter box, so we don’t leave her in the house for long periods.  If someone would be willing to just let her camp out for a few months, we would gladly take her back once we have moved into a house.  Her name is Phoebe.

National Engineers Week, which celebrates professionals in all fields of engineering and computing, will be held February.  The College of Engineering and Computing at the University of South Carolina is hosting an Open House geared toward kindergarten through 12^th grade students on Saturday, February 21 from 10am – 1pm at the Swearingen Engineering Center at 315 Main Street on the USC Columbia campus.

The free event will feature dozens of interactive exhibits that highlight the CEC’s programs and research including the following:

• Fuel cell demonstrations
• Electric and hybrid vehicles
• A concrete canoe
• A cornstarch pool
• Robots
• Computer Games
• Segway Rides
• Hands-on projects for kids

For older students, many of our research labs will be open for tours as well. Visitors of all ages are welcome, as are school groups.
