Companion Needed

From Cindy –

We are looking for a ‘companion” for my mom, Sylvia Thomas, an 82 year old widow who is self-sufficient; however, she gets a little anxious in the evening and doesn’t like to be alone;  so we are wanting to find a female that could spend nights with her to be a “presence” in the home. Maybe you know someone, young or old (maybe another widow), who needs FREE room and board as well as a SALARY – who could move in to a spare room/bathroom at Sylvia’s home in Pigeon Point; or maybe it could be 2-3 people that could tag team the nights? We are open to different scenarios.

If you know of anyone that may be interested, please call or text my brother, Rick Thomas, at 843-521-3786;  or myself, Cindy Smith, at 843-521-6486. Thank you so much.

Homeschool Carowinds Meet Up Rescheduled

Hey everyone!

The Carowinds homeschool meet up that was canceled because of weather has been rescheduled to July 8th!

If you were orginally going to go or weren’t able to go on the last date – a bunch of families are planning to be there.

Everyone is on their own for arrangments – but it should be fun!

Tutor available

Hello! My name is Natalie McDaniel, and I’m an academic tutor and homeschool support specialist looking to take on some new students. Back in high school, I was that math nerd that people asked for help when they were having trouble in class. I graduated high school with an ACT 35 and superscored SAT 1560. Additionally, two days ago I graduated from college with my Literature degree and the credit equivalent of a math/science minor. In college, I worked with a nationally recognized math tutoring business for two and a half years, and I have been tutoring math and test prep for the ACT, AP, and ASVAB tests independently for more than five years now. I typically do one-on-one tutoring, but I have taught up to four students at a time. I teach both online and in person.

I spend the most time tutoring math from counting to calculus, but I can also help with ACT and SAT English and Reading sections, literature/English/reading/composition, Spanish I and II, history, science, and biblical Greek. I was homeschooled K-12, and I get that sometimes a particular student or subject just needs a little extra explanation, organization, or accountability. I am thorough and organized, and I would be happy to be the driving force your homeschool academy needs to get through a tricky subject or busy year. I’m patient and encouraging, but my real strength is understandable explanations, which is why math is my specialty. My goal with struggling math students is to find where the student got off track and not move on till they understand those root issues. I have worked with student after student who is not “bad at math,” just overwhelmed and unsure about foundational concepts. Clear up how algebra language works (or what fractions really represent, etc.) and suddenly what the teacher says makes sense again.

Carowinds meet up

Open to anyone!

Hey everyone! It is the annual Post Memorial Day Carowinds Trip again!

We will go on Tuesday May 27th.

You can get tickets online and there are different discounts available at their website!

It is so fun to go after Memorial Day weekend when the park is not busy and usually not super hot!

Everyone makes their own arrangements- we usually pack a lunch and go out to the parking lot to eat it at some point.

And of course an empty water bottle is a must!
