Science Field study programs offered by Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute
FYI from Claudia –
Hello,
My name is Jenifer Gammon and I spoke with you back in the spring about Science Field study programs offered by Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute. I just wanted to send a reminder e-mail about our programs and offer my name and phone number if you had any questions concerning the camps. I’m more than happy to come to your schools and visit if needed also!
We run three different camps at my site, Camp Bob Cooper in Summerton, SC; Teaching KATE, E-Tech, and LEAD.
– Teaching KATE – Environmental Sciences
Teaching Kids About The Environment is a three-day residential, interdisciplinary, hands-on learning experience for students from grade three through grade eight. The academically-based classes in forestry, soils, water ecology and wildlife resources make up the backbone of the program. Instructors guide the students to a greater understanding of the natural world and the inter-relationships between the four areas of study. Teaching KATE was developed by YLI and the Coalition for Natural Resources, and is endorsed by the S.C. Department of Education and is held at RM Cooper 4-H Leadership Center in Summerton, SC.
– E-Tech – Technology/Science
E-Tech is a three-day residential, hands-on learning experience for students from grade three through grade eight. The program combines environmental science with technology. Students learn about soil, water, birding and forestry while incorporating the use of technology such as digital cameras and global positioning systems. Students then use a state-of-the-art computer lab to chart, graph and research their data with various software applications.
– LEAD – Adventure & Experiential Science
Leadership Education through Adventure Discovery or LEAD is a three-day residential, hands-on learning experience for students from grade five through grade twelve. The program offers students an experiential science and natural resources curriculum combined with adventure and leadership activities. This program is completely customizable with activity options that include high and low ropes elements, climbing, zip lining, canoeing and hiking.
The cost per student is $105.00. That includes housing and food and activities. The cost per chaperone is $50.00. If you would like more information you can go to our website; www.clemson.edu/yli and go to the Outdoor Education page.

Nursing Home Ministry Opportunity
From Erica –
Are you looking for an opportunity for family ministry?? There are a few families in the Bluffton area who visit the NHC nursing home (off of 170)every 1st and 3rd Wednesday. We meet in the front of the facility at 10:45 and spend time with the residents until 11:45ish. The children sing songs, practice flash cards, read books or just visit. My children and I did this last year and it was truly a blessing. After our time together, we could possibly all go to the park for lunch, play and fellowship. If you are interested please email or callme..ericanlawson@gmail.com or (843)304-4449.
Have a great day!

Praise Adopts Hosts Golf Tournament Fundraiser
From Jennie –
Praise Adopts is hosting a golf tournament and all proceeds go to families who are adopting either domestically or internationally, we currently have 4 families that are in the process of adopting internationally. Please consider supporting these wonderful children and be a part of bringing them home. There are 3 ways you can help ~
1. Please pass the attached flyer along to anyone that you know that golfs or would want to support.
2. Consider sponsoring a hole ~ anyone can sponsor ~ businesses, small groups, churches or families. The sponsorships are $100, $200 and then up!
3. Play and help put together teams.
Thank you, your love and support is so very needed by these precious children.
