CBCCA Cross Country Alert!!

We are looking forward to having another great season in 2020. If you are interested in joining the team or finding out more information please email us. We are also hoping to have an informational meeting after a Wed night service (TBD). If you are not running, start now as it’s still cooler than it will be in July when we start practicing. We would like everyone to be able to run at least 3 to 4 miles without walking. Your pace is not important right now, but the distance is.
Thanks,
Coach Jason & Tracy

The event starts at 1 pm on Friday, April 17th, and Seniors can register at https://www.ciu.edu/senior.

CLT Testing Available

FYI CLT Testing Available

With the effects of the pandemic being as complex as they are, many parents around the country are concerned and are wondering if their students will be falling behind in college readiness. One aspect of this is the recent cancellation or postponement of standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. While some colleges and universities are waiving the need for scores, this issue is still concerning given the current system of competitive college admissions.
Thankfully, the CLT (Classical Learning Test) stands in the unique position of being the only standardized test for scholarship and college admissions that can be taken between now and (God willing) June. Due to this current reality, we would like to make you aware of a few things:

The CLT (for college admissions) is offered AT HOME and ONLINE with scores available the next business day:

  • Apr 25, 2020 (Deadline – Apr 21)
  • Jun 20, 2020 (Deadline – Jun 16

11th graders should consider taking one or both of these tests in preparation for college admissions next year.  You can create an account here https://www.cltexam.com/register to familiarize yourself with the CLT, practice, and register for upcoming tests. You can also see how the CLT compares to the SAT and ACT here at  https://www.cltexam.com/comparison

  • The CLT10 will be offered on APRIL 29th at home.  This test is for all 9th and 10th graders. Students that take this test are preparing for PSAT, SAT, ACT, CLT and may potentially gain a $2500.00 scholarship from the CLT to a partner college of their choice.  You can find more information about this test here https://www.cltexam.com/products/clt10, and the $2500.00 in scholarships here https://www.cltexam.com/scholarships
  • Mr. Tobin and Mr. Councell (two teachers at Holy Trinity Classical Christian School) will be offering test training online at a discounted rate prior to the tests at the end of this month.  For more information about this opportunity, please click here CLT and CLT10 Prep Course

CBCCA Graduation 2020

CBCCA Class of 2020 Graduates and Families,

In light of great uncertainty with the current coronavirus situation, Pastor Carl has decided to cancel our in-person graduation ceremony this year. This was not an easy decision to make, as you can imagine. We realize this is one of the top milestones in any person’s life. And we definitely hope the situation eases up, but even if it does, it would be too soon to gather in such a large group, as we do for graduation.
So, we will still create the video of the graduates’ testimonies and Pastor Geoff will still give the commencement address. We will stream this on the graduation date of Friday, May 22, 2020 at 7 PM. Plan to watch with your family, at home, and let others know they can watch, just like we stream our worship services on the church website, Facebook, etc.
Diplomas can be mailed or picked up at the church; more detail on that to come.
Let us know if you have questions. And please continue to pray for wisdom for leaders, here at CBC and in SC and the USA.
Pastor Matt

Stanford Test Update

Dear friends, thanks for being patient as we are learning to adapt to many different ways of doing things during this time of living with Covid-19. Due to the fact that so many of our families finish their school year sooner rather then later, and we are unsure as to when we will be able to gather as groups again, we have decided to cancel the Stanford Testing for this year. If the Stanford Test was on your agenda, no worries, as it is available to take online–info is below. Also, The Iowa Test (https://www.bjupresshomeschool.com/category/homeschool-iowa-tests)  is also an approved test.

AT-HOME TESTING

Interested in At-Home Testing? Click HERE to find your test.

As of 2018, you now have the ability to take the Stanford-10 National Achievement Test at home. The parent does not have to have the B.A. in order to administer the At-Home test. This is the same nationally-recognized test used in the On-site testing we offer. As a norm-referenced test, the Stanford-10 not only offers the home educator information on their student’s achievement, it also provides comparisons based on nationwide test results. The first version of the Stanford Achievement series was published in 1926. Its history and academic excellence has earned its acceptance as a nationally normed achievement test, and meets most states’ testing requirements.

ONLINE TESTING

Interested in Online Testing? Click HERE to learn more.

Does your child work best from home?  Are they still young and needing more one on one attention?  Do you have scheduling conflicts with your local testing site? Do you live in a rural area and onsite testing is not available?  Or you just prefer to test at home?  Then this test will be perfect for you!

Here, your child will test on their computer in the comforts of your own home. They will call in to a conference call where a proctor will read the directions to them. They will then be able to take the test.

Online testing opportunities are offered for students who prefer not to test at a physical location, or who can’t get to a physical location. Online testing is for grades 3–12, is proctored, and includes the same Stanford-10 components as the physical test for the level you choose. The online version does not have a listening section.

The Stanford-10 National Achievement Test is a nationally-recognized test used by educators across the United States, particularly in private schools and homeschools. As a norm-referenced test, the Stanford-10 not only offers the home educator information on their student’s achievement, it also provides comparisons based on nationwide test results. The first version of the Stanford Achievement series was published in 1926, and the Stanford-10 online version was introduced in 2012. Its rich history and academic excellence has earned its acceptance as a nationally normed achievement test, and meets most state’s testing requirements.
