Yearbook Notes
Hey everyone a few things about yearbook.
When you finish your family page or Senior 1/2 page, please email Jessica at jjclayton1013@gmail.com so that she can move it to your page in the yearbook and you can do your personal pages.
Also we are so LOOKING FORWARD to seeing some activity pictures! Please upload your activity like Upward, Trail Life, other sports, musical pursuits, plays etc.
Just look for the content folder which is an icon on the left side of Treering which will take you to a shared folder where you can upload pictures to the appropriate folder.
We really want to show the wide range of accomplishments and interests of our homeschool students. Help us make that happen with your pictures! Questions? Call or text Charlotte 843-592-1502
Testing available
Does your student struggle with sitting still for standardized testing? Does he/she have ADD/ADHD or other diagnoses that make it difficult to test on ONE grade level throughout the session?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you might be interested in having your student take the Woodcock Johnson Test with Susan Blackwell who will be coming to the Beaufort area in April to administer tests. Susan will also be offering consultations for parents of students with Special Needs. After your initial contact and possible dates that work for the families, Susan will set up a time to test with Community Bible Church to use their location for testing.
The Woodcock Johnson test takes around 1 1/2 hours and is one on one interactive test. The cost is $150 per student (discounts for multiple children in a family) and the results are available immediately following the session along with a print out of Strategies and Interventions to help in the areas in which the student tested lower than average.
You can read more about the WJIII test on Susan’s website:

If you are interested, please contact Susan by phone 803-429-3899 or by email sblackwelltesting@gmail.com

Urgent Action Needed to Protect Homeschool Freedom from Government “Help”
An Action Alert from HSLDA
Dear Friends of Homeschool Freedom in South Carolina,
“The ten most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m here from the government, and I’m here to help.” So said President Ronald Reagan. And that is why we need urgent action to oppose H. 5164, a bill which expands South Carolina’s Education Scholarship Trust Fund to homeschool families.
South Carolina home educators have consistently told our elected officials “thanks, but no thanks” when it comes to money from the government. As HSLDA President Jim Mason has pointed out, “homeschooling did not begin as a movement because of the top-down vision of a politician, nor was it dependent on government largesse.”
BACKGROUND
When South Carolina’s Education Scholarship Trust Fund was first enacted, South Carolina homeschoolers asked that they be written out of the bill. H. 5164 reverses this and deletes the following sentence from current South Carolina law: “not to participate in a home instruction program under Sections 59-65-40, 59-65-45, or 59-65-47[.]” This change will erase the line between private homeschooling and government-funded programs.
The K-12 Subcommittee for the House Education and Public Works Committee will meet on Tuesday, March 5, immediately after adjournment of the full committee. We expect the subcommittee to take up H. 5164 in Blatt 433, 1105 Pendleton Street, in Columbia.
We urge as many homeschoolers as possible to attend the hearing and tell our legislators we do not want government money to “help” us homeschool.
The full House Education and Public Works Committee will meet again on Wednesday, March 6, immediately after adjournment of the House, in Blatt 433. During this meeting we expect the full committee once more to take up H. 5164, and we urge as many homeschoolers as possible to attend and testify against the bill.
ACTION REQUESTED
In addition, please contact the six members of the K-12 Subcommittee and give them this message: “As a homeschool parent, I do not want money from the government. Please remove the strike-through from Section (f) in H. 5164. I want the language excluding homeschoolers to be kept in the law.”

Contact Jessica not Sue
Hey everyone I accidently sent out the wrong info on that yearbook post the first time.
If you are planning to do a page please email Jessica Clayton (jjclayton1013@gmail.com) so that she can go ahead and start alphabetizing them and saving your page.
Family Page & Senior Page Deadline April 12th
CBCCA Families –
If you have participated in the yearbook before just “Log into” Treering (Do not create a new account).
If you are planning to do a page please email Jessica Clayton (jjclayton1013@gmail.com) so that she can go ahead and start alphabetizing them and saving your page.
When you have finished your page – please let Jessica know by emailing her so that she can get your page from Treering and reposition it in the yearbook. You will then be able to do your personal pages.
If you know for sure that you DO NOT want to do a page… please let us know that too so that we don’t have to follow up with you.
If you are a new family or have never participated in the yearbook you can “Create a new account” TreeRing.com. Just look for Community Bible Church Christian Academy (fully typed out).
Here are some examples of Family Pages.
You will see 2 pages when you sign into Treering (ie. page 1-2) Please design your family page on just ONE of these 2 pages. Include all the names of those in your family somewhere on the page. You can include a group shot or individual pics of your family. When you are done, we will then transfer your page over to the main yearbook for all to see and then we will remove it from your custom pages so you will have those back to add more photos that will only show in your personal yearbook.

For the senior families only:
You will see a full page spread when you sign in to Treering on your custom pages. (ie pg 1-2)
Your senior section will be designed on 1/2 of one page. (just 1/4 of the 2 page spread) this is so we can get 4 seniors on 2 pages.
You can complete the senior section and a family page at the same time. These pages will then be copied over to the main yearbook for all to see and you will have your 2 free custom pages back to add more photos to that will only show in your personal yearbook.
If you need any help with doing your pages or designing them, text or call Charlotte Cushman @ 843-592-1502.
