YMCA Tigershark Swim Team @ Homeschool Friendly Times

tigersharkAre you interested in having your student swim for the Tigersharks? The YMCA is guaging interest for a homeschool friendly practice time for the Tigersharks.

Nothing develops the skill of swimming like swim team. The Cushman kids have been participating on the Tigersharks since I started homeschooling in 2000. This has been a wonderful thing for our family.

The time slot will be Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays from 1-2 and will focus on fitness and swim team fundamentals. This is a perfect fit for PE for your homeschool.

For more details and to schedule an evaluation contact Coach Heather at 843-694-7913 or heatherswmr@gmail.com or via facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/hwbruner prior to September 22nd swim team start date.

Homeschool swim team specific info is not up on the Tigershark Website yet, but check out the website for the general info. The pricing will be the same as the development team’s pricing on the website: http://www.thetigersharks.com/. Members of the homeschool swim team will be eligible to compete in meets if they are members of the YMCA.

Three times a year, members of Community Bible Church Christian Academy must submit a progress report. A progress report provides a record of what your student(s) are studying and their strengths and weaknesses in these subjects. Here are some basic rules of what your progress report should include:

  • List Community Bible Church Christian Academy, along with the student’s name, grade and the date of the progress report.
  • It should reflect the dates and the total number of days of instruction. We are required to have 180 days instruction each year. Please show this in your progress report.
  • List the subjects studied, a brief description of each course, curriculum and books used and an indicator of how the student is doing in each course. Examples are a narrative explaining his progress, a grade or an indication such as satisfactory or unsatisfactory progress.
  • Please follow the Uniform Grading Scale for High School Students as required by South Carolina law. Include a sample of assigned work for each subject as appropriate.
  • A sample of your plan book for that reporting period.
  • If the student has fulfilled all the requirements for the school year and is ready for the next grade level, the parent must provide a statement showing this on the last progress report of the year.
  • For students third grade and above, please provide a copy of their standardized achievement test as a part of their permanent record.
  • In addition, a separate transcript is required for High School Students. Each instructor is responsible for preparing their students’ official transcripts. These should be started during the students’ freshman year and kept up-to-date for use when it is time to apply for colleges. Copies of final transcripts must be turned into Pastor Broggi for signature before applying for college. Downloadable transcripts and samples are available here.

Homeschool Equestrian Program

Deep Sigh Equestrian Programs:

At Deep Sigh Farm our goal is to introduce Deep Sighhorseback riding to the general public in a safe and friendly environment.   We teach horsemanship from the ground up in all of our lessons settings.

You or your child will learn grooming, care and management of horses as well as the techniques necessary to ride effectively and safely. Horses teach us life lessons in a manner that humanity cannot. Through weekly interaction with an assigned mount our students learn to be self-sufficient, make sound decisions; and become aware of the cause and effect theory of life.

We offer the following options for lessons at our facility.

Homeschool student riding program;

Weekly lessons from 9:00 -10:30 Tuesday groups of 4 -6 riders

Monthly fee paid at the beginning of each month

4 lessons per month                         –           $90.00

2 lessons per month             –           $50.00

Afterschool programs:

Private lessons          Tuesday- Thursday 2:00 -4 pm                   $60.00 pp/hr

half hour session                                          $45.00 per half hour

Group lessons (3-5) Saturday 8:00, Monday or Friday 5pm. –   $35.00 pp/hr

Horse and Rider Clinics: problem solving for your equine: by appointment

$75 per person per clinic.

All participants are required to have an ASTM approved helmet, proper riding shoes, pants or breeches and riding gloves. A packet with Signed release and medical information form must be on file before starting any lesson program.

Students should arrive 15 min before the start of the lesson to groom tack and be mounted at the start time of their lesson.
