Homeschool Legacy will be in Charleston this Weekend

From Sharon Gibson – homeschool legacy

Greetings from Homeschool Legacy!
We are going to miss coming to beautiful Beaufort this year. We so look forward to your convention. We are praying for Charlotte Cushman’s and Joyce Glover’s families  and hope your CHEC conference will resume in the future.
We did want to let you know, however, that we’ll be in Charleston at the Low Country Homeschool Conference this coming weekend (May 30-31) and are hoping to see you there!
If you are already enjoying the benefits of Once-a-Week Unit Studies we look forward to helping you design another fun-filled year of serious learning. But, if you have not yet experienced the joy Once-a-Week Unit Studies can add to your school year, we invite you to view this short informational video:
We will be offering two conference specials this coming weekend in order to help save you even more money. We have an amazing new product we are excited to share with you. And we will also be doing three workshops – two will be Homeschooling on a Budget and another will be Ms. Frizzle or Ms. Fizzle.
Hope to see you there!
Blessings,
Sharon

Transcript Class

From Michelle Huffman –transcript
Have you ever felt like transcripts were too complicated to ever understand?
Do you find your planners in a disarray at the end of the school year?
What if I could show you how to create your own transcript in Excel?
What if I could show you a way to setup a planner that would contain your summary information and automatically calculate your grades and cumulative averages for you?
What if I could show you what all those strange formulas in Excel really mean and how to use those formulas?
I would like the opportunity to teach you what I know about Excel, and how it can make recordkeeping quick and efficient.
I will be holding a class on Wednesday, June 4, from 3-5pm.  It will be located in Rm. 115 of the main bldg. at the CBC Beaufort campus.
There will be no cost for this class, its free!!!  I just ask that you bring an open mind and a willingness to learn something new!!
It is not necessary to bring a laptop.  I will provide handouts which will detail the formulas covered in the session.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (803)625-0462 or (843)384-3853.
I look forward to seeing you Wednesday!
Michelle

AP History Course Available from Patrick Henry Prep

Why study history in high school?
History is often viewed as a “boring” subject—and sometimes with good reason! Many history classes focus on having students memorize seemingly endless lists of facts, rather than helping them understand why those facts are important.
But what if you found a history class that didfocus on the big-picture significance of historical events?
As a high school student, I studied in a variety of settings, including at home and online. I also spent a few years at a rigorous private high school, where I took many honors and AP* classes.

I enjoyed these classes, but I wish I could have taken more courses that strengthened my Christian worldview and broadened my understanding of life as a whole.

As a history major at Patrick Henry College, I found the depth and quality of Christian learning I had been looking for. I had the opportunity to study with Dr. Favelo, who designed PHC Prep Academy’sAP World History course.

Dr. Favelo designed AP World History to teach students to think and write at a collegiate level. Students go beyond simply memorizing facts and learn to analyze and interpret them. They also learn about the philosophical and moral significance of historical events. The course helps students learn how to think, not justwhat to think.

As Dr. Favelo puts it in a video about the AP World History course“Facts in and of themselves are not of much value unless they have an eternal perspective.”

I would have loved taking classes with PHC Prep in high school! My hope is that your family will be able to benefit from this great classroom experience. I encourage you to read this free download about our AP World History course to learn more.

If you have any questions about AP World History or about AP classes in general, please give me a call! You can reach me at 540-338-8290 or info@phcprep.org.I’d love to hear from you.
