Homeless No More Ladies Conference at Okatee Baptist Church

From Ted Edwards –

FYI

Homeless No More Ladies Conference at Okatee Baptist Church

Dear Ladies, people need to feel God’s love in their lives not a bunch of pretty words flowing from a church building. It is imperative that we show God’s love in our daily lives. By temporarily putting away our feelings and allowing God to shine through us to a needy soul, is the only way that people are going to understand that God loves them. The needy are not going to hear this message of God’s love, if we Christians are being nasty, cold, selfish, gossipy, backbiting or cliquish within our own family. It is time that Christians come home to God and learn to be productive family members.

Speaker: Kathleen Cline
Praise & Worship: Caroline Pierce

Boone Hall Plantation Field Trip

From Evelyn –
Boone Hall Plantation Field Trip
Join others at Boone Hall Plantation on Friday, Nov. 9th for a field trip.  We will meet at the check- in tent at 10 a.m. and there we will be assigned a tour guide to show us around and share some great info with the kids about the plantation and the civil war days. The tour will be appropriate for various aged children.   Fee:  $9 for students 6 and up, chaperons $7.    All teachers are admitted for free.   I can sign anyone up for the trip and you will  be admitted as a teacher for free if we get names on the lists prior to arriving.  My contact person mentioned  you may also “show up” whenever you like without any reservations.  If you do not go with group, be prepared to give proof of being a teacher. It is not necessary for you to pay until you arrive at the tent.

If you would like to meet there with the group, e-mail me at cbcevelyn@gmail.com

Visit Boone Hall on the web for more info about “The Living History Field Trip Day”.
We have attended before and it is a great experience.  I also mentioned that some families may be bringing younger children and the contact person said that is no problem. If you are on the guided tour he said we will be welcome to take a break and join in at a later time if a  break is needed.  There is also a picnic area available.  If you have questions, please e-mail me.

Welcome to the new CBCCA Homeschooling Blog!

Welcome to the new CBCCA Homeschooling Blog!

This is a place to make homeschooling announcements, share information, encourage others in their homeschooling efforts, buy and sell curriculum and generally help each other out!

Please feel free to email me at charlottecushman@gmail.com with your announcements.

Remember that this is a public forum, so anything that you do not want communicated over the web is not appropriate for this site.

Our heart is to reach out to our community and offer resources, encouragement and help to those who homeschool or who are interested in homeschooling.  Our efforts are from a Christian perspective and we do reserve to the right not to publish anything that we feel will interfere with the message of the Gospel. However, you do not need to be a member of the CBCCA Umbrella in order to participate here. We welcome you!

Some information about our homeschooling group –

Community Bible Church Christian Academy is a legal umbrella that allows members of of Community Bible Church to homeschool legally in South Carolina using the third option.CBCCA is an third option association that is open only to families who have at  least one parent who is an active member of CBC.

Although CBCCA itself is a legal umbrella, please know that we have many homeschooling activities including support meetings, park days, co-op and a homeschooling conference that are open to anyone in our homeschooling community.

We highly encourage homeschooling moms to join us at Woman’s Life, our women’s ministry that meets twice a month during the school year. We have a wonderful children’s program that is geared both to preschool and homeschooled students! It also offers the Presidential Challenge Program!

Also if you are not eligible for our legal umbrella Carolina Homeschooler is a great resource for finding other option 3 associations to participate in.

Below are three options for Homeschoolers in SC.

Option 1 : Establish and operate a home school as approved by the local school board. 180 days per year, 4½ hours per day. Reading, writing, math, science, and social studies; also composition and literature in grades 7-12. High school diploma or GED or a baccalaureate degree. Maintain evidence of regular instruction including a record of subjects taught, activities in which the student and parent engage, a portfolio of the child’s work, and a record of academic evaluations, with a semiannual progress report. Participate in the annual statewide testing program and the Basic Skills Assessment Program.

Option 2: Establish and operate a home school under the membership auspices of the South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools (SCAIHS). 180 days per year.
