Common Core-Got questions?
I have had quite a few people ask me questions lately about the Common Core State Standards. I am in the boat with you all and doing research as it will affect all children on some level. My husband asked me this evening, “So where did this come from? How did this happen?” It might even be a hot issue in the next presidential election. I am posting a link to a 39 minute video that HSLDA has put out and it is well done and very thought provoking. Grab yourself a cuppa and watch to the end. Being a home educator, I love what Paul Horton, Wayne Brasler, and Michael Farris have to say at around the 20-something minute mark. Pray for our nation’s leaders. Pray for wisdom and endurance for our state governors and state elected officials. Pray for continued freedom to educate our children as God directs.

PASS TESTS ARE IN!
Reminder Classical Conversations Has Testing Available

Dear Homeschooling Families,
Classical Conversations Community of Beaufort would like to make this Standardized Testing option available to you and your families. You do not need to be a member of CC to participate.
Here is the link for anyone who would like to sign up for Standardized Testing which will be made available through our local CC campus.

What you need to do:
Go to the above link and sign up.
Fill in all required boxes and choose which grade level you would like your child tested for.
On the next screen it will give you the option of purchasing a practice test for the test level selected. This is optional but available.
Complete check out and pay for the registered test {s}.
Registration closes March 30, 2014.
Testing Cost:
Cost of the test is $50 payable during the registration process. Cost of the test goes up to $55 after March 23rd.
There is also a $10 fee per student due the first day of the test, please bring $10 cash in an envelope with your child’s name on it.

A revamped SAT is coming out in 2016! Just thought parents of Jr High and Sr High students might want to know and here is a link to free SAT prep by Kahn Academy, which is great.

CBCCA STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TESTING 2014
TEST ORDER DEADLINE – MARCH 14th to get test back in time!
The Stanford Achievement Test will be administered to homeschooling students this spring. This testing situation is available to CBCCA students as well as non-CBCCA homeschool students. The details are as follows:
Place: Community Bible Church, Children’s Building
Dates: April 29 – May 1, 2014 (Tuesday – Thursday)
Grades: 4 – 12
Testers: Audrey Broggi, Cindy Smith, Ninette Hodgins
Time: 8:45 – 12:00 (approximate)
Administrative Fee: $40.00 per student.
Payment preferred in the form of a check made out to CBC, with “SAT fee” written in the memo
Give to Claudia Gay or Laura Caldwell (Front Desk of main building.
Deadline is April 16. No student will be tested Without Payment.

Parents are responsible for ordering and paying for the SAT-TASK for their child (children). The instructions are:
1. Order online (bjupresstesting.com) or call BJUP (800.845.5731). You will be ordering the Stanford Test for Homeschool (not the OLSAT) according to the grade level of your student this spring.
2. Should order by March 14, 2014 in order to ensure timely delivery to test administrator
3. You will need to identify the tester as Ninette Hodgins. Ninette’s tester ID number is 910564.
4. BJU will require you to verify that you homeschool your child (children).
5. On the same day you order your test, please e-mail Ninette (ninette3126@hargray.com) with the following information:
a. Child’s first, middle initial, last name
b. Grade level
c. phone number
d. birthdate
4. Tests will be shipped to Ninette. The day after testing she will mail the tests back to BJU. The parent (purchaser) will be notified by BJU when the results are ready for review online, usually within 10 business days from the day the tests are received back at BJU.

PASS TEST
The price of the PASS test will be $24.00 per test. I (Kelly Erdel) will be collecting the money this Sunday, March 2nd and next Sunday, March 9th. Need PASS Test Info By Wednesday to Get Pricing
Kelly reminded me about this today – If you are interested in PASS Testing, she needs to KNOW your interest and numbers so she can find out how much the tests will be.
Keep in mind that yearly testing is required if you are a member of CBCCA for all students 3rd grade and above.
The PASS test is one way to meet this requirement. This is a test that is administered by you as the homeschool instructor.
Another testing option that is available from CBCCA is Stanford Testing coming up on April 29th. Stanford tests must be ordered by March 14th. Here is the link for that info – https://cbccahomeschooling.com/cbcca-stanford-testing-info/.
