Would you like to belong to a Community that simplifies your homeschooling?

From Monica –

We are hitting that season where families are beginning to think about schooling options for next year. Are you considering home schooling your child {ren}?

We would love to share with you how Classical Conversations comes alongside families who are interested in educating their children Classically and with a Biblical worldview.

While there are many benefits of being part of a CC Community – here are two that stand out in my mind today:

Community: meeting weekly with families who are in the same season of life as your family and making many of the same choices for their children. Moms who need encouragement will find other moms who can help share from what we have learned or seek guidance from other moms. Children are encouraged in peer relationships that build confidence in getting in front of their class weekly to speak on a topic, practice their memory work and engage in lively games together.

Simplifies your home educating time: one of my families greatest blessings has been this area. With three children in three different levels, it is beyond simplifying that they are all learning the same memory work each week. We are able to bring this home by all doing the same history, science, Timeline and more. Each child will need their own reading and math help – but what a gift to have our whole family following the same core curriculum at one time.

If you are interested in learning more about Classical Conversations here in Beaufort, here are a couple of ways you can dig deeper:

Attend an Open House: our first Open House for 2014 is scheduled for this Tuesday, January 21. You and your children can come and participate in a morning of CC and experience it for yourself. Please let me know if you are interested in signing up to attend this practical and fun morning.

Come to an Information Meeting: also this week on Thursday January 23 at 6:30pm we will be hosting an Informational Meeting at Shell Point Baptist Church {Parris Island Gateway right across from Bi-Lo} This Thursday, we’ll especially be exploring Essentials {our 4-6th grade writing/grammar program} and Challenge {our 7-12 grade programs.} Everyone is welcome and I will be happy to share about Foundations {age 4-6th grade} at that time as well.

Ken Ham Evolution Debate

FYI

Ken Ham will debate Bill Nye LIVE Feb 4 at the Creation Museum!  The debate will be streaming live.  See info below…

What: An evolution/creation debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham at the Creation Museum.

Tickets offered online for the debate being held inside the museum’s 900-seat Legacy Hall sold out in less than two minutes. The debate will now be available live and online, and FREE of charge, atdebatelive.org.

The live stream is powered by Google+ Hangouts On Air, through YouTube. This live and unedited presentation will be available in high definition (HD) for large screen viewing in schools, churches, and other public venues, at no cost.

When: The debate will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 7 PM EST.

Where: A live audience will be watching in Legacy Hall inside the Creation Museum (located near the Cincinnati Airport) as people worldwide watch the debate online at debatelive.org.

Details: The agreed-upon topic for the debate is: “Is creation a viable model of origins in today’s modern scientific era?” Ken Ham is a leading creation apologist, best-selling Christian author, Creation Museum founder, and President/CEO of Answers in Genesis. Bill Nye is the former host of the popular Bill Nye the Science Guy TV program for children, current executive director of the Planetary Society, and frequent guest on TV interview programs on science topics, like evolution and creation.

Detailed information about the Nye/Ham debate can found on the online event page. The debate will be live streamed via debatelive.org.

Thank you for your interest and support for this significant outreach opportunity. Talk to your church leaders about hosting a special live showing of the debate in your church, Bible study, or other location (a man who just heard about the live stream is looking into renting a local theater to show the debate on a large screen, using our high-definition capability). It will bless and equip your Christian friends and family with faith-building teaching, plus you now have the opportunity to reach out to your community with the creation/gospel message through a public showing of the live debate.

We pray that this debate will honor Christ our Creator and direct many people to the foundations of our faith which are found in the Bible, from the very first verse. Point your friends to debatelive.org.

Open Forum for Homeschool Meeting Feb 4th

From Tammy Waldron –

Happy New Year and I pray that everyone is off to a great start in the second half of our homeschool year!!!  I just want to remind you that there will be an open forum for our next homeschool meeting on Feb. 4th.  I would really love for this to be a question & answer time, so in order to be better prepared, PLEASE e-mail me any questions that you might have and I will do my best to have an answer for you that night.  If I do not receive any questions, I will have to choose the topic!  PLEASE e-mail me your questions by Jan. 22nd.

If in the meantime you need some extra encouragement or help in your homeschooling journey, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me.  I have been receiving some e-mail in this new year already and it is such a joy to be able to personally help!

Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”

Love in Christ,
