Homeschool Friendly Swim Team Available
Tennis Anyone?
From Gaye –If anyone has students who will be 13 years old through senior grade who are interested in learning tennis and possibly being a part of a homeschool tennis team, please contact Gaye McNair sgmcnair@gmail.com to sign up. Floyd Washburn, a long time CBC member, is on the local board of Public Tennis, Inc and a USTA member will help us arrange lessons and get this ball bouncing! If enough people contact me we will look at starting some lessons this summer, probably one day a week for 6 weeks. This would be a great way to introduce your kids to this “life” sport while adding hours towards the required PE credit. Fee for lessons $10 a session (Each additional brother or sister is only $5) and that’s a really good deal! Lessons would be held in the Mossy Oaks area.
Don’t put it off…we need to know interest level. Thanks!!!

Public Tennis is looking for volunteers to help with its programs serving youth and people with special needs. Tennis skills are not necessary! Volunteer as much or as little as suits your schedule!
Helping our athletes is easy and fun!

From its beginning, PTI recognized that despite hundreds of private and gated tennis courts and facilities in the greater Hilton Head area, very few courts were available for public use. In the early 2000’s, PTI raised funds and secured matching funds enabling the Town of Hilton Head to build Chaplin Public Tennis Center. Subsequently, PTI facilitated the procurement of additional courts for public use and acted as facility operator of various courts on an interim basis.
PTI offers grants and sponsorship to players who aspire to pursue higher levels of tennis and who seek scholarships for college education. Starting in 2017, we are proud to be part of a new USTA initiative to grow tennis by involving young children and their parents in play which is largely parent organized.
Thank you for your consideration! Wayne Lilley, President, Public Tennis Inc. 978‐571‐1475

Sports through Beaufort County Schools
Beaufort County School Sports Information scroll down to charter/homeschool links…..
Homeschooled, charter and Governor School students may participate in extracurricular activities in their school district. Not every student will want to take advantage of this program, but we are grateful that homeschooled students now have this opportunity. Many CBCCA students participated last year and had a great experience. We hope that our homeschooled students will be both a blessing and an asset to the local schools’ athletic programs.
Football, swimming, volleyball, competitive cheerleading, girls tennis, girls golf and cross country usually have a first practice date in August. According to the Homeschool Eligibility Request Process you need to submit your request to the district Request(s) received at the District Educational Service Center from the parent/guardian ten (10) days prior to tryouts/practice of a requested sport. Application serves as notice of a student’s intent to participate. The district is requiring that this information is turned in (10) ten days before the first practice in order to confirm each student’s eligibility.
Contact the school that you wish to participate in to get dates and details on the season. Below are the tentative start dates to get you started.
