Community Service Project for Kids Fit – Bring Frozen Chickens – Woman’s Life
As you know, in addition to our Kid’s Life Fitness program, your children have been working on community service projects this year. We made placemats for Meals on Wheels for Thanksgiving, pencil holders and cards for the CBC Food Pantry, and we are sponsoring and decorating (the children have been making the ornaments) a Christmas tree for The Friends of Caroline Hospice as well. Our theme for the tree is “The Fruit of the Spirit.” As part of the process in acquainting our children with self-sacrifice and community service, we are asking each family, if possible, to bring a frozen chicken for the CBC Food Pantry to the Woman’s Life meeting on November 12th. We will have collection bins available in the fellowship hall of the children’s building. We are suggesting that the children help to contribute to the cost of the chicken. There are seven people in my family, so I am planning on each family member’s $1 donation, which should cover the cost. We are asking for chickens because our food pantry clientele prefer chickens over large turkeys. If you have any questions call or text me at 592-0528.
Thanks!

Balancing Slow
From Charlotte –
For those of you who missed the meeting last night – Monica Wilkinson shared some really good thoughts.
The one that I thought the most about was SLOW, Surrender, Listen, Obey and Worship.
She also shared A LOT of Scripture – including this one on Wisdom – Proverbs 3:17-18 “Her ways are pleasant ways and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who hold her fast.”
I admit is was difficult for me to think of slowing down (in the evening after dinner? who else is going to make sure the kitchen is clean and everything is ready for the next day!!!) But I appreciated her point that we be intentional about what we choose and to try and balance what the needs are with an intentional focus on what is most important… our family.
What Monica shared made me think made me think…. Am I wise in my home? Am I a blessing to those who are in my home?
And here is her blog post that is related to the topic of Balancing SLOW… http://thehomespunheart.blogspot.com/2014/02/balancing-slow.html
Thanks Monica…..
