Meeting

Wednesday ~ PICTURE DAY! Your child does not need to be in the yearbook to participate!

From Sue & Tracy –

Hi Everyone!CBCCA Picture Day

Just a reminder that yearbook class pictures will be taken this Wednesday, October 8 during Kid’s Life. Fit Kidz will have a health class instead of going outside. We will try our best to get all of the Kid’s Life kids this Wednesday, but if not we will get them on October 22.

Lisa will have information available if you would like to purchase pictures and I am also attaching the order form.

Your child does not have to be in CBCCA to have their picture taken or to order pictures.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

In Christ,
Sue and Tracy

Info about Salvation Army Extra Curricular Offerings

FYI
Info about Salvation Army Extra Curricular Offerings
My name is Major Marie Tatterson and I’m with The Salvation Army as an officer here locally and I would like to talk with you that might be interested to the Home Schooling family.

I am wanting to introduce you about our Youth outreach program that might be benefit to them on something that could help accomplish along with their school work and or you might like to look at ir as a second curriculum activity for fun and looking for a different environment aspect for your young people. It is similar as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout where they work and earn badges and it does have Christian view on these materials. Where they won’t feel obligated for being discriminated on our view of religions.

  • What is Sunbeam?

The Salvation Army Sunbeams program  is a holistic Christian Education experience for girls in grades 1-5.

What are the goals of the Sunbeams program?
To help develop on these goals — Positive social and communication habits, Decision making and life skills and Character and leadership.  And there is a great opportunity to attend Sunbeams camp at our Divisional Camp which is Camp Walter Johnson in Denton, NC.

Through a Biblical worldview by encouraging:  A sense of personal identity and character, Christian values and Biblical principles, Physical, mental, spiritual and social development in safe environment for learning, developing, and caring that is age appropriate and Christ centered.

  • What is Girl Guards?

The Salvation Army program is a holistic Christian Education experience for girls in grades 6-12.

What are the goals of the Guarding program?
The goal of the Girl Guard program is to help girls to develop —
Positive social and communication habits, Decision making and life skills, Character and leadership, Through a Biblical worldview by encouraging, A sense of personal identity and character, Christian values and Biblical principles, and Physical, mental, spiritual and social development in safe environment for learning, and development and caring that is age appropriate and Christ centered.

  • The Salvation Army Adventure Corps is an exciting program designed for boys in grades one through eight. We offer many activities designed for the boys.

The Adventure Corps is organized and operated through our local Salvation Army Corps community center and consists of two sections: Explorers for boys in grades one through fourth and Rangers for boys in   grades fifth through eighth.

In the Adventure Corps you will discover many new truths about God’s created world and His love for you. You will also experience many new challenging adventures as you work your way through a series of achievement emblems and special awards intended to assist you in developing your individuality and potential in the following ways:

Through group interaction with leaders and other boys, By discovering the importance of Christian values and biblical truths, Through the development of physical, mental and social skills, By providing a balanced environment for learning, developing and caring that is child oriented and Christ centered.

They do not have to be a church members here at The Salvation Army. This is our outreach programs and this can be a great privilege for anyong to join in one of these programs. There is camp for each one of them during our summer month.

I would like to invite the parents for an orientation to check out our program here at The Salvation Army on Thursday at 2:30P or they can call our office number 843-524-3727 to ask question about our programs.

I would appreciate that you share this information to these Home Schoolers family that this can be an opportunity for their children to get involve in this program here at The Salvation Army, 2505 North Street, Beaufort.

Thank you and God Bless.

PUMPKIN PATCH FIELD TRIP/CORN MAZE/HAY RIDE + MORE
WHERE: MADRAC FARMS, 580 Ralph Rahn Rd., RINCON, GA.
WHEN: OCTOBER 16
TIME: 11:00 A.M Sharp
DETAILS: $5.00 PER STUDENT/ADULTS
LUNCH: I’m recommending a sack lunch. They do offer a lunch package, but it must be ordered ahead of time, which will complicate things. You’re welcome to call and order it individually, just tell them you’re with CBCCA homeschooling group.
SIGN -UP: Please email coxfamsc@gmail.com with number of students and adults. Please pay by October 8, call Charles Cox for more information @ 476-6868. Thank you.

Please read the following:
Hay ride—Take a class trip through the deep Georgia Woods and around the corn maze. Takes about 10-15 minutes. Classes will try to be loaded together, depending on size.
Corn maze—About 5 acres this year, not to big, but not to small. We recommend breaking up into groups of 5 and trying to see who can make it through the maze the quickest. Takes about 20 minutes.
Hay Play—There’s nothing more enjoyable for a child than playing around in the hay! Please plan on your children getting dirty.
Animal Feeding— A great learning opportunity for those kids that have never seen a goat, pig, or chicken, except on television. Animal feed is included for each child on fieldtrips. A 5 minute walk from the entrance.
Trip through pumpkin patch—We grow our own, and it’s exciting to see little faces when they realize pumpkins grow from a vine. Children will pick up their pie pumpkin that is included in their visit as they exit the farm, not in the pumpkin patch. (The pie pumpkins don’t grow in South Georgia.) A 5-minute walk from the entrance.
Big Slide—New this year is our big slide. Every child will want to take a ride down the 13-foot slide on a potato sack.
Bouncy house— New this year, a bouncy house is included with all admission.
Coupon for FREE visit for each child—Each child participating in a field trip will receive a coupon to come back to the pumpkin patch for FREE during the 2014 season.
Child sized pumpkin (for children only) – Children only will receive a small pumpkin to take home with them. This pumpkin will be picked up at the Entrance/Exit area, not picked from the pumpkin patch. It makes it much easier so parents and teachers aren’t keeping track of 25 different pumpkins during your visit.
Recommendations: We recommend breaking up into class sizes or even groups of 10 when doing a field trip. A great rotation is Corn Maze, Hay ride, Pumpkin Patch, Animal Feeding, Lunch (if dining with us), Hay Play/Bouncy House/Slide. There will NOT be a Farm employee with you to guide your visit, so it is up to teachers/parents to get your group through the farm. We will have employees stationed at all areas of the farm to answer any questions and to assist you and your staff in any way we can.
Depending on your group size, your visit can vary from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. We recommend bringing and wearing your school ID badges while at the farm and that everyone wears closed-toed shoes.

Charity Sale to benefit Beaufort Youth Orchestra

From Charlotte Cushman –beaufort youth orchestra logo

As you may know, music is an area that homeschoolers often are able to excel. Every year the Beaufort Symphony sponsors a Youth Orchestra, which gives students a wonderful opportunity to experience playing in an orchestra setting under the direction of music professionals.

Our daughter Talley plays cello and is participating for the first time in the Beaufort Symphony Youth Orchestra. This is a non-profit group and in order to raise funds they are participating in a fundraiser called the Belk Charity Sale.

This is a private ticketed event, which will be held on November 8th from 6-10 am. It features 20-70% off storewide including special savings on brands, which are rarely discounted.

If you purchase a ticket for $5.00, you receive $5.00 off your first purchase and entrance into the event.

If you are interested in helping the orchestra and saving money at Belk, please contact Talley at talleycushman@yahoo.com.

Thanks so much!
