Percussion and Brass Group lessons

The CBC School of Music in now offering Percussion and Brass Group lessons for students 3rd grade to adult.
Percussion (Drums) Class and Brass Group Lessons on Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba and Saxophone will be offered on Thursdays from 4:00 – 4:50 PM beginning October 24th.
The Percussion class instructor is Mr. Giove, who is the new Officer in Charge of the Parris Island Marine Band. His wife will be teaching the Brass lessons. Cost is $10 per lesson.
 
Registration is now open by emailing; student name, age, phone and email address to cbcofbeaufortmusic@gmail.com. For more information call Laura at 525-0089. 

IT’S FIRE PREVENTION WEEK!

We were given 50 Fire Prevention kits for CBCCA elementary students.  The kit comes with fire prevention themed coloring books and crayons, with some other small items.  The box will be available by this Sunday in the Resource room in the children’s building.  Please help yourself, one each for your elementary grade student.  Also included is a newsletter for parents with fire safety tips. Enjoy!!

Classical Conversations of Beaufort Open House October 15

Dear Homeschooling Families or families of those considering homeschooling,

Classical Conversations of Beaufort will be hosting a Fall Open House on Tuesday, October 15. This Open House is for homeschooling families interested in joining or learning more about our Classical Conversations program. You will be able to observe and participate together with our community during this time. There will also be a time where families can ask any questions they may have regarding our CC program.If you would like to attend this Open House in October, please email me to reserve your place. SPACE IS LIMITED. Once you reserve your place, I will give more detailed directions regarding
the day.

I am happy to schedule another day for you to visit if October 15 is not convenient for you.

Here’s a the specifics of our Classical programs and times:

The Foundations program occurs from 9:00AM-12noon (K4-6th) followed by lunch and playground time outside.

We welcome you to come and see what Classical Conversations is all about and how our mornings together work! Please include with your RSVP the names/ages of your children. Your children are welcome to attend with you. We have a nursery available for 3 years and under. Please plan to bring lunch with you as this will enable you to speak with other CC moms in the program during our lunch hour and allow me an opportunity to answer your questions.

Families are welcome to join CC any time during the school year as long as there is class space available. You may visit www.classicalconversations.com for more specific information on the Foundations, Essentials, and Challenge programs.

BOX TOPS DEADLINE FOR THIS YEAR

Talking Books Services

I didn’t get to mention at last night’s meeting about the Talking Books Services that is available through the SC State Library.  I have been utilizing this service for about seven years now.  For qualified applicants, the library will send a machine free of charge that the student can use to listen to books on audio.  The machine has a feature that allows the student to regulate the speed of the reader, which makes it nice if they are following along in a hard copy.  I have been able to find many of the books that I included in my curriculum through this service.  They have a large selection of books.  For dyslexia, the parent needs to have a MD’s signature for the application.  My MD was so nice and had no problem signing for us.  I will post more on a service for college textbooks in another post.  Here is a link to the FAQ about Talking Books Services and then you can download the application:

Drivers Education classes are scheduled monthly at a fee of $260.00 per student.  Valentine Driving School will provide group rates to home school students of ten or more.

Valentine Driving School, a South Carolina Certified Driving School, opened its doors in 2004 in Walterboro, SC and has been serving citizens of Colleton County and its surrounding counties since.  Valentine Driving School has always been committed to providing quality training to students of all ages.  Students receive classroom and behind the wheel training in accordance with South Carolina requirements for Drivers Education.

Ricky Valentine/owner and instructor is a Walterboro Native and a Graduate of Limestone College with an Associate of Arts in Business Management.  A veteran of the United States Air Force, He returned to South Carolina to pursue a career in Law Enforcement where he has served as a Police Officer since 1994.  He is currently employed by Walterboro Public Safety as a Captain.

SC AQUARIUM LAST UPDATE

CBCCA Fellowship/Workshop

CBCCA will be holding it’s monthly meeting with a time of encouragement as well as a workshop focusing on struggling learners. The workshop will be led by Sharon Strever and Tracey Holmes in room 115 next to the World Mission Cafe.
