The Eclectic Academy of Learning

The Eclectic Academy of Learning will be coming to the Beaufort area this coming 2013-2014 school year. The Eclectic Academy of Learning is a homeschool interrelated interactive class started by Jill J. Dixon, B.S.Ed., M.Ed. in 1997. Students in grades 3-12 learn all language arts (literature, literary analysis, critical reading, grammar, editing, vocabulary, writing), history, humanities, geography, speech and drama, critical thinking, art, art history and extensive SAT and ACT Verbal preparation through various proven educational methods (Classical, Charlotte Mason, Unit Studies, Core Knowledge, Learning Styles/ Multi Intelligence theory and traditional) in a hands-on interactive classroom environment that meets one day per week for 5 ½ hours. Students are given work to complete at home weekly. Classes are taught by trained instructors/homeschool moms who love children and learning. High Schoolers receive 3-5 credits per year. The class is based on a four year rotational study of history. The Beaufort Campus will be beginning with the study of the Ancient World with an emphasis on World Literature in the high school class. Art Class with Mr. Barry Stebbing

3-Day Art Class Coming to CBC in March!

Raise your hand if you are the parent who is supposed to include art with your curriculum but never seem to get around to it after doing math, reading, writing, etc.? And, what subject do the kids love but we moms never seem to have time for? ART CLASS, of course!
Good news! Mr. Barry Stebbing of How Great Thou ART publications is coming to Community Bible Church March 18-20 to teach students ages 5-adult about art.
The course includes teaching the basic fundamentals of beginning drawing and painting, an introduction to art appreciation (studying the great masters), and new techniques in the use of colored markers and colored pencils.
My children and I attended Mr. Stebbing’s class last spring in Charlotte and we all had a great time and learned quite a bit. Our art skills and knowledge have increased tremendously after taking Mr. Stebbing’s class.
CLASS DETAILS: Class time is 1:00-3:30 pm. March 18-20 at CBC.
Tuition for class is $27.00 per student and includes the entire three days. (Late registration will be accepted March 1 – 11 and will be $30 per student).
All materials will be provided except colored pencils and colored markers. Each student will need to bring a standard set of colored pencils and markers.
Must pay in advance to reserve your seat. No money collected at the door. Cash or checks are accepted. Checks should be made out to Kelly McDaniel.

School of Music Strings Program

The Community Bible Church School of Music Strings Program is encouraging new students to join the Intermediate Strings class or the Intermediate Guitar class on Monday afternoons. Based on skill level, the student will be accepted or encouraged to wait until the new term. This offer is not for beginners. New classes for beginners will be available in September of 2013, or possibly a summer session. Please contact CBC for more info on these classes or referrals to teachers offering private lessons. Classical Conversations of Beaufort Open House January 22

I am happy to schedule another day for you to visit if January 22nd is not convenient for you.
Here’s a the specifics of our Classical programs and times:
The Foundations program occurs from 9:00AM-12noon (K4-6th) followed by lunch and playground time outside.
We welcome you to come and see what Classical Conversations is all about and how our mornings together work! Please include with your RSVP the names/ages of your children. Your children are welcome to attend with you. We have a nursery available for 3 years and under. Please plan to bring lunch with you if you as this will enable you to speak with other CC moms in the program during our lunch hour and allow me an opportunity to answer your questions.

First Orchestra

The new season of First Orchestra starts on Wednesday at 4:00 pm. This is a strings group, with beginner to intermediate students with 2 – 4 years of experience, that emphasizes orchestra performance, and prepares students to enter Beaufort Youth Orchestra. Gracie has enjoyed this group for two years and it has given her great confidence and enhanced her playing ability. I highly recommend it! Ami Rabinowitz has set the following schedule and the price is $45 total for six sessions, plus three concerts. We meet at Rabinowitz Music Studio upstairs at 715 Bay Street.
