Classical Conversations
We are hitting that season where families are beginning to think about schooling options for next year. Are you considering home schooling your child {ren}?
We would love to share with you how Classical Conversations comes alongside families who are interested in educating their children Classically and with a Biblical worldview.
While there are many benefits of being part of a CC Community – here are two that stand out in my mind today:
Community: meeting weekly with families who are in the same season of life as your family and making many of the same choices for their children. Moms who need encouragement will find other moms who can help share from what we have learned or seek guidance from other moms. Children are encouraged in peer relationships that build confidence in getting in front of their class weekly to speak on a topic, practice their memory work and engage in lively games together.
Simplifies your home educating time: one of my families greatest blessings has been this area. With three children in three different levels, it is beyond simplifying that they are all learning the same memory work each week. We are able to bring this home by all doing the same history, science, Timeline and more. Each child will need their own reading and math help – but what a gift to have our whole family following the same core curriculum at one time.
If you are interested in learning more about Classical Conversations here in Beaufort, here are a couple of ways you can dig deeper:
Attend an Open House: our first Open House for 2014 is scheduled for this Tuesday, January 21. You and your children can come and participate in a morning of CC and experience it for yourself. Please let me know if you are interested in signing up to attend this practical and fun morning.
Come to an Information Meeting: also this week on Thursday January 23 at 6:30pm we will be hosting an Informational Meeting at Shell Point Baptist Church {Parris Island Gateway right across from Bi-Lo} This Thursday, we’ll especially be exploring Essentials {our 4-6th grade writing/grammar program} and Challenge {our 7-12 grade programs.} Everyone is welcome and I will be happy to share about Foundations {age 4-6th grade} at that time as well.
For more information or to schedule a visit, please reach out to me at mohummingbird@hotmail.com.

Question about English 102 @ Tech
From – Tammy Waldron

I am just wondering if anyone took English 102 at Tech last semester with Ms. Hirsch and knows if she used the MyLiteratureLab? She did not use it for English 101.
Thanks,

Biblical Counseling School Now Available Online!
Are you interested in growing in your faith? Would you like to help others to overcome difficult situations through the life-giving grace of the Gospel?
Then you will really benefit from the new online Biblical Counseling courses that are now available from the Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center.
Tim Bryant is an excellent teacher – I enjoyed taking the spring session last year and attending his Sunday School lessons while we were in Charleston at Charleston Bible Church. He also taught at the Coastal Home Educators Conference this past June.
These classes are in-depth and very good. And now you don’t have to drive to Charleston in order to take them! Charlotte
The Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center has teamed up with a state of the art online course designer to begin offering all our courses completely online. All you need is a computer (or smart phone/tablet) and internet connection and you can take the courses anywhere – at your home, on vacation, at the office, etc.
Our first course offering is Track 1 “Change that Sticks”. You can begin the online learning experience today!.
We begin with this course because it is the essential core curriculum for all who want to understand: 1) how to counsel others in biblical change (especially in the common problem areas of anger, anxiety, depression, bitterness and guilt biblically), and 2) how to make progress in their own personal need for biblical change.
God has given us all we need to fix all that is wrong with us on the inside. What other book can, “revive the soul, make wise the simple, rejoice the heart, enlighten the eyes (Psalm 19), equip for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17),” even as it, “reveals the motives of our hearts” (Hebrews 4:12)”? Track 1 “Change that Sticks” is the essential core curriculum that hundreds of have benefited from in their own lives and ministry and now it is available online in a format that is enhanced for learning:
- powerpoint videos / audio sessions (22 sessions)
- student outlines, counselor resources, counseling assignments (250 page manual)
- course homework laid out for each session to increase retention (optional)
- ready-to-use counseling assignments and resources for ministry (over 100 pages)
- relevant readings (over 300 pages of reading – additional costs for some texts)
- discussion board for Tim Bryant to interact with your questions and comments
Some students may take this course formally by completing and utilizing all the learning tools, while others may just seek to benefit personally by listening without completing all assignments. Both types of students are welcomed. (We are a ACBC/NANCcertification center, so these courses can go toward completion of that program. Click here to read on the our certification program.)
So if you are interested in growing in the biblical knowledge and process of how to change biblically and how to help others as well but have not been able to attend the courses live, sign up today.
