Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & Algebra 2 Available
Hello everyone –
My name is Charlotte Cushman. The upcoming school year will be my 18th year homeschooling.
Some of you may have been where I was 8 years ago! I had a 15 year old who needed Algebra, but also had kids aged 9, 8, 6, 4, 2 and was pregnant with number 7! I was homeschooling medium and young ones while still dealing with preschoolers and toddlers and generally running around crazy with six kids and five of them under 10! Higher math loomed ominously ahead. I needed help and enlisted a tutor and it saved the day.
Since then, I have gone back to school and am currently finishing my teaching degree. I found that math is a challenging subject that I really like to teach. I opened my home last year to a small number of students that were my own kids ages. We met weekly to work through the Saxon curriculum. It was amazing how much everyone learned! So my thought is that I can be helpful to some of you who are where I was 8 years ago.
I will be tutoring pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 for my own children during the 2017-2018 school year. I have to teach them anyway – so I would like to open this up to you as well. I have availability for a few more students in each class.
Saxon Algebra II – 5 seats available
Saxon Algebra 1 – 4 seats available
Saxon Algebra 1/2 – 3 seats available
A typical class will go as follows –
Review of concepts
I explain the lesson and we will talk about it. I will show the students how to work out an example problem on the board. Then I will give them similar problems to work out on their own (each student has an individual wipe board). Because there are more than one student, they will generally compete to see who can get the correct answer first.
Practice concepts
After each student demonstrates understanding, they will do practice problems. When each student can correctly do the practice problems, I have them do the problems from the lesson.
Standardized testing practice
Class ends with standardized testing practice and practice problems.
We will meet on Mondays for two and half hours. The class will meet in my home in Port Royal. We will go over 3-5 lessons per week for a total of 123-129 (depending on the course) lessons over the course of 34 weeks. Students will be responsible for completing assigned practice sets in a timely manner.
I do not check homework, administer tests or assign grades. I will expect all of their work to be checked prior to class beginning on Monday so we can go over problem areas.
Classes will cost $60.00 per month August – April. This includes 2 hours and 30 minutes of class time per week for 34 weeks. We will take a long break during the Christmas holidays.

Cheerleading Available
From Clarissa Bickham –
We, Beaufort Wildcats, are a non-profit organization that strives to encourage the youth of our community to gain just that, self-confidence. We take pride in teaching and supporting our children in order to motivate them to be the best they can be. Our cheerleading and football program has given our children a sense of pride and confidence they did not have before. Our program has grown stronger and stronger every year and I am proud to be a part of this Blessing to our community. To see the growth, development and change in these precious children from the beginning of the season to as short as a couple of weeks within, makes my heart melt. The love and joy they express to each other feels like family! And that is why we have been identified as that – Family! We say, “One Team One Family” and we mean every bit of that!
I would love to grow our family even bigger by accepting more cheerleaders into our program. If possible, please send this flyer to all parents on the homeschooling network and to any other connections, groups or networks you approve of.
They may pre-register at http://www.beaufortwildcats12.com or just show up to registration on June 24th.
On our final registration day, June 24, 2017, if the alloted time for their age group does not work for them, they are more than welcome to show up at the other time slot. I will be there at both time slots and will be happy to accept them. If they have any questions, they may contact me via the contact information below. I thank you for your time and pray you have a blessed rest of your evening.
Respectfully,
Clarissa Bickham
