Easter Fellowship

Hey all! Please join us for a special day of fellowship at Old Sheldon Church Ruins on Easter Sunday! We’ll meet after the second service for a covered dish picnic, an Easter egg hunt for the little ones, and a chance to make some new friends. This is a wonderful opportunity for younger families to connect with older families. Some of us have been gathering together on this special day for about 15 years! It’s a good time to invite military, or single friends out for fellowship. It’s so lovely this time of year!
What you need to bring: chairs or a picnic blanket; a covered dish to share and a dessert of some sort; drinks for your family; an Easter basket with at least a dozen eggs with non melting, non choking candy for each child who wants to participate; a camera; and any friends you’d like to invite. We’ll have plates, napkins, utensils. We’ll have the resurrection eggs to share the gospel with the younger children. We’ll have corn hole, frisbees, and a soccer ball for older kids to kick around. Please note that the closest bathroom is about 3 miles away at the Family Dollar at Gardens Corner.
We’ll plan to eat at 1:45.
If it rains we will celebrate at our own homes 🙂 Pray for a cool sunny bug-free day! And prayerfully ask God who you might invite; an older couple whose children are grown, a new family in our church, military singles, etc….And feel free to forward this email
Directions to Old Sheldon Church:
Take Hwy 21 all the way out to the traffic circle at Gardens Corner. Go through the circle to the left which will put you on Hwy 17 going south. Be careful merging into traffic here, but stay in the right lane because you will take the first right, Old Sheldon Church Road. Go about a mile and you will see the ruins on the right. There is a field to park in across the street. It’s a very busy street, so HOLD CHILDREN’S HANDS as you cross to the ruins.

Tennis Anyone?
From Gaye –If anyone has students who will be 13 years old through senior grade who are interested in learning tennis and possibly being a part of a homeschool tennis team, please contact Gaye McNair sgmcnair@gmail.com to sign up. Floyd Washburn, a long time CBC member, is on the local board of Public Tennis, Inc and a USTA member will help us arrange lessons and get this ball bouncing! If enough people contact me we will look at starting some lessons this summer, probably one day a week for 6 weeks. This would be a great way to introduce your kids to this “life” sport while adding hours towards the required PE credit. Fee for lessons $10 a session (Each additional brother or sister is only $5) and that’s a really good deal! Lessons would be held in the Mossy Oaks area.

CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

SANFORD ACCEPTING ENTRIES
FOR CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION
WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Mark Sanford today announced the 2017 Congressional Art Competition for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. The competition is open to all high school students who reside in the District. The winner of the competition will have their artwork displayed in the United States Capitol and will be flown to Washington this summer by Southwest Airlines, free of charge, along with one parent or guardian, to attend a reception and the unveiling of their artwork.
All entries, accompanied by the permission form at this link: https://sanford.house.gov/services/art-competition can be delivered to Congressman Sanford’s office in Mount Pleasant or Beaufort by April 29, 2017.
CBCCA Fellowships
Well another year has wrapped up, at least for the planned fellowships! I am so thankful for the hard work put in by Tracy Holmes, Evelyn Owens, Tammy Waldron, Tracy Behrens, Michele Norman, Sue Cerrillo, Jacki Wiegel, the Lawson’s– hopefully I didn’t miss someone who prepared diligently for each fellowship.
As a reminder these meetings/fellowships are designed to encourage you. With that being said I would like to ask for ideas for next year. Is there a topic you would like to see addressed?
Please mark your calendar as we have a special family night planned for the October Meeting which will be held on October 10th; for now it is a surprise, but as we get closer to the date I will give you more details.

Homeschooling the middle school years is nothing to fear! In fact, it is one of the most rewarding seasons! Come be encouraged at our April CBCCA meeting and bring your questions about middle school and preparing for SAT and ACT tests. THIS TUESDAY at 7:00pm. LAST ONE OF THE YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FINAL CBC Homeschool STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TESTING 2017
The Stanford Achievement Test will be administered to homeschooling students this spring. This testing is available to CBCCA students as well as non-CBCCA/non-CBC homeschool students. The details follow:
Place: Community Bible Church, Children’s Building
Dates: May 2 – May 4, 2017 (Tuesday – Thursday)
Grades: 4 – 12
Testers: Audrey Broggi, Cindy Smith, Ninette Hodgins
Time: 8:45 – 12:00 (approximate)
Administrative Fee: $40.00 per student.
Payment preferred in the form of a check made out to CBC, with “Stanford Test fee” written in the memo.
Give to Claudia Gay or Laura Caldwell (Front Desk of main building.)
Deadline is April 11. No student will be tested Without Payment.
(Please don’t make us come to you; pay promptly. Thank you)
Parents are responsible for ordering and paying for the Stanford Achievement Tests (NOT the Stanford/OLSAT) for their child (children). The instructions are:
1. Order online (bjupresstesting.com) or call BJUP (800.845.5731). You will be ordering the Stanford Achievement Test (the SAT/TASK) according to the grade level of your student this spring.
2. Should order by March 27 in order to ensure timely delivery to test administrator. If ordering after that date, best to call BJUP to ensure a timely delivery to the test administrator.
3. You will need to identify the tester as Ninette Hodgins. Ninette’s tester ID number is 910564.
4. BJU will require you to verify that you homeschool your child (children).
5. On the same day you order your test, please e-mail Ninette (ninette3126@hargray.com) with the following information:
a. Student’s first, middle initial, last name d. preferred parent contact information-
b. Birthdate of student – phone number and/or e-mail
c. Current Grade level e. Parent’s mailing address
4. Tests will be shipped to Ninette. The day after testing she will mail the tests back to BJU. The parent (purchaser) will be notified by BJU when the results are ready for review online, usually within 10 business days from the day the tests are received back at BJU. _______________________________________________________________________________________

The Beaufort YMCA Tiger Sharks Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels.
It is the goal of the BYAC Tiger Sharks to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.
