Hey everyone – thought that y’all might like to know about this competition that is coming up in April and the upcoming kids program at CrossFit Beaufort. Both Sarah and I have been doing this for the last six months and my girls just joined too. It is a wonderful program and I think a perfect complement to homeschooling – Thanks Charlotte

Festivus Games 2016 are a fitness competition for everyone. At Festivus Games it’s not necessary to scale the events. No athlete, whether six months in or brand new, will need to scale any of the events. The competition is about capacity more than a high degree of skill. Everyone can row…just how fast? Everyone can deadlift..just how much?
Since the first competition with about 70 athletes Festivus Games has grown to over 13,000 Athletes competing in 2015!
When you compete in the Festivus Games you can expect to be challenged but you can also expect to have a lot of fun! With our Novice class Festivus Games really is the perfect venue for your first functional-fitness competition. Our Intermediate class will provide enough challenge for all but the best of the best athletes soFestivus Games can be your competition of choice for years! And all new is the Masters 45+ division which we’re excited to offer.
On April 16th, 2016 Novice, Intermediate and Masters athletes from across the country and various parts of the world will compete, all on the same day, in this one-day event. Each host will award the top three finishers in each division for both male and female classes.
Please help us to promote this event by sharing it with everyone you know. Friends, neighbors, family, co-workers, or fellow athletes. Anyone beginner or intermediate is able to compete in this competition. I’m still waiting to raffle off my next prize for signing up once we get just 5 more people registered.
Lastly, I know that there has been talk that CrossFit Beaufort will be starting their CrossFit Kids program once again. And, guess what??? Yes, it is true!!! We are happy to announce CrossFit Kids is making a comeback!!! We will be finalizing all of the details over the next couple of weeks, and will be getting the information out to you. (Ages, schedule, cost, etc……)

As I have been meeting to encourage and help homeschool families, I sense that there are many who need encouragement in the homeschool journey. This post came in my e-mail this morn and I must confess, self-condemnation is a sin that I have asked the Lord to root out of my own life. On the flip side, one of my love languages is “words of affirmation,” so the combo can really trip me up sometimes! Do you have a child struggling to read? Is the thought of another test to fail have your stomach in knots? Don’t forget that CBCCA has an alternative to the PASS or Stanford Test, the Brigance Test. This is especially geared toward struggling or non-traditional learners and is a great alternative to assess students’ abilities and can help provide for clarity in discerning curriculum choices, goal setting, and school year planning. This test will be offered by CBCCA on a case by case basis in lieu of PASS or SAT tests. Please call Claudia at the office if you would like more information.

Dear friends, I have wanted to provide a home school ID for many years. With our new database I may be able to finally do that. I can have it print out family ID badges which would include parents names and all the children along with the CBCCA logo. I would have to add data such as the current school year. I know these are helpful for discounts etc. I don’t want to have too much info on there for security reasons, but what other info do you think should be on there, if any? For example, is your address necessary? Do you want individual ones for each student??? I can upload pictures as well-provided you send them to me.

SANFORD ANNOUNCES 2016 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Mark Sanford released the following statement regarding the 2016 Congressional Art Competition:
“I’m happy to announce that my office will be participating in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. Open to high school students in the First District, the competition is a unique opportunity for young adults to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol along with other winning pieces from all across the country.”
The winning student from the First District and one parent/guardian will be flown to Washington this summer by Southwest Airlines, free of charge, to attend a reception and the unveiling of their artwork in the Capitol.
