INDEPENDENT SCHOLARS DAY
Join us Thursday, February 20 for a day dedicated to students who receive their education outside of the traditional school systems. Students will participate in a Plantation Overview Tour, exploring the plantation gardens and property; a Beyond the Fields Tour, concentrating on the lives & culture of enslaved people at Middleton Place; and a visit to the Plantation Stableyards, where they will visit skilled artisans demonstrating jobs performed by enslaved people. Students will also go on a Meet the Breeds Tour, concentrating on the heritage breeds of animals found on the plantation, and participate in hands-on
activities including rice processing, corn grinding, and butter churning. Admission is $10 per student and per chaperon. Please RSVP to Greg Smith, Director of Education, Middleton Place Foundation at gsmith@middletonplace.org . Tours will be given from 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm. Students and chaperons will provide their own lunches and eat at the picnic tables from 12-1pm.

CBCCA STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TESTING 2014

The Stanford Achievement Test will be administered to homeschooling students this spring. This testing

situation is available to CBCCA students as well as non-CBCCA homeschool students. The details are as

Place: Community Bible Church, Children’s Building

Dates: April 29 – May 1, 2014 (Tuesday – Thursday)

Grades: 4 – 12

Testers: Audrey Broggi, Cindy Smith, Ninette Hodgins

Time: 8:45 – 12:00 (approximate)

Administrative Fee: $40.00 per student.

Payment preferred in the form of a check made out to CBC, with “SAT fee” written in the memo

Give to Claudia Gay or Laura Caldwell (Front Desk of main building)

Deadline is April 16. No student will be tested Without Payment.

Parents are responsible for ordering and paying for the SAT-TASK for their child

(children). The instructions are:

1. Order online (bjupresstesting.com) or call BJUP (800.845.5731). You will be ordering the Stanford Test

for Homeschool (not the OLSAT) according to the grade level of your student this spring.

2. Should order by March 14, 2014 in order to ensure timely delivery to test administrator

3. You will need to identify the tester as Ninette Hodgins. Ninette’s tester ID number is 910564.

4. BJU will require you to verify that you homeschool your child (children).

5. On the same day you order your test, please e-mail Ninette (ninette3126@hargray.com) with the

following information:

a. Child’s first, middle initial, last name c. phone number

b. Grade level d. birthdate

4. Tests will be shipped to Ninette. The day after testing she will mail the tests back to

BJU. The parent (purchaser) will be notified by BJU when the results are ready for review

online, usually within 10 business days from the day the tests are received back at BJU.

Feb. 4th at 7 pm.  *Please note the topic has changed*  We are now going to stream live, from the Creation Museum, the debate between Ken Ham, creation apologist & CEO of Answers in Genesis and Bill Nye, evolution apologist & the Science Guy.  This will be a fabulous opportunity to bring some of your older students along! We will be in room 102.

This will count as a regular CBCCA meeting.
