Update Sept 9-29-13
Well I haven’t posted in a really long time. I am so sorry about that.
Chris is doing very well and is coming along in rehab. He is walking now and moving around pretty well. Still a lot of rehab ahead but I know that Lord willing, Chris will persevere. One setback that has occurred is a bone infection that is keeping him on IV antibiotics along with a serious pressure wound that is thankfully healing well.
I continue to be overwhelmed by the kindness of our church family, community and the police department. Thank you for all of the emails, messages, cards, gifts and encouragement that we get on a weekly and many times, daily basis.
I am glad to say that we may possibly be back in Beaufort in the next 3-4 weeks. I will be so sad to leave the people here in Charleston…. we have made so many new friends and deepened many acquaintances. We are thankful for Cooper River Baptist while I was staying in Mt. Pleasant and for new North Charleston – Charleston Bible Church https://www.facebook.com/pages/Charleston-Bible-Church/102217749873699 – a wonderful group of believers who have welcomed our family as their own. The children have all found friends, many of whom are in our own neighborhood… and many of the people in the congregation are people that I made long-distance friends with during the congressional campaign in the spring. Thankful for Curtis Bostic and Jenny Bostic and their family and Hilary Ann Mansell and Nathan Mansell for their hospitality.
But I do miss all of my friends in HHI, Bluffton, Okatie, Port Royal, Lobeco, Seabrook, Ridgeland and Hardeeville and BEAUFORT so much… can’t wait to get back to our wonderful church Community Bible Church of Beaufort, SC and of course Woman’s Life http://audreybroggi.com/womans-life.htm.
I am encouraged by what the Lord is doing through this in my life and I hope that the Lord will continue show me Himself as we look forward to serving again in Beaufort.
If any of you want to call or visit Chris, please just message me and I will see what we can do:)
Much love to everyone… Charlotte

Update & Charleston Salutes
It has been a very busy week for our family. Getting “back to school” in another city, while also staying engaged in caring for Chris, doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for other things! Especially posting!
Chris got his trach out last week and is doing well. He looks well and his bones are mending. Thankful for the doctors and staff at the rehab hospital, they are taking good care of him. Thanks also for all the cards and visitors who have continued to keep up his spirits.
He still has a way to go with one of his injuries. But slow and steady wins the race.
Hoping that Beaufort law enforcement – emergency services will join our family at Peaceful Way Farm on Saturday for Charleston Salutes. Register here L http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e7uh8m12b212b164&llr=q4qeiinab .

Update Thursday
Thank you for praying for us.
Update Monday Sept 2nd
Update Monday –
Hope everyone is well. Chris got his trach capped today… so he officially not hooked up to any hoses now. Last night we went through the last of the pile of cards and well-wishes that have poured in over the last weeks (how many weeks???) and have been amazed by the kindness and sincere love that people have shown to our family.
Thankful to the Lord for his provision of this house and support here in Charleston. Thankful that Zach is up here… we now have a “burn phone” for the house and a “hot spot” for internet.
Prayer requests –
That Chris would get enough nutrition and want to eat.
That the kids and I would settle into a good routine and take care of each other well.
For Chris to heal well.
Love to you all… char

CHEC 2014 Canceled
Hello everyone –
–
Update Saturday
Update – Saturday –
Chris has been moved to an acute rehab facility here in Charleston. He is markedly better. Very much himself. This is the start of the most difficult part for him. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him.
Prayer requests –
– That he would be weaned off the vent this week. I can’t begin to explain how much more comfortable he will be when this happens.
– Effective beginning rehab so he can start doing things for himself.
– For us to be transferred to Beaufort soon.
– Pain management
Kids are well… I got to see everyone yesterday… hug them and eat a meal with them. Hard to say goodbye again. Thankful for all of our friends who are taking such good care of them.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support for Chris and our family. We are blessed by the Beaufort Police Department, and our community and all of your support. We are also SO thankful for our church family at Community Bible Church.
Love to all – char
Update Wednesday
Sorry that I haven’t updated. I have been very busy with Chris since last night. Now that he is active he needs me a lot. Chris has been in the chair twice today. It is very tiring for him… but it is helping his lungs a lot.
