Soccer Evaluations Upward

 

Saturday (February 27 @ 9:00 am) will be your final chance for both registration and evaluation for the spring soccer season.  Here is what you need to know.
You may register online at anytime prior to arriving Saturday morning. (Click Here to register:  https://login.upward.org/?route=registration&id=UPW60678 )
If you choose to do it all at the one time, registration will open at 9:00 am and will take place in the children’s wing of Community Bible Church.  Upward volunteers will be stationed at the entrance to help guide you  through the process.
Evaluations will begin at 9:00 am on the athletic fields behind the church. (Cleats are recommended but not required)
If you have already registered and completed evaluations, please share this email with your child’s friends who may be interested in playing this year.

Drivers Ed Class – Need at Least 8 Students

Details for the Homeschool Driver’s Ed Classdrivers ed

We need 8 students to go forward with this class. If you would like your student to take this class, please email me at charlottecushman@gmail.com to get detailed registration instructions.

Deadline to email me is next Friday March 4th.

Instruction will be by First Step Driver Training http://www.firststepdrivertraining.com/.

The in class instruction will be held:

Monday March 14th

8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Discounted Cost: $275.00/Payment plan $150.00 down – balance by the last individual drive.

Includes: 8 hours classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.

Requirements: Students must be 15 for classroom instruction and must have their permits for behind the wheel instruction.

 

First Tee – Golf

If you look at the schedule there are programs available at Parris Island and Pleasant Point as well. This looks like a great way to accomplish phys ed in your homeschool!

At The First Tee, we work with experts in a variety of fields to deliver junior golf programs that are proven to have a positive influence on kids and teens. Each lesson is designed to be fun, interactive and engaging. Our coaches follow a philosophy centered on positively reinforcing your child’s actions and ensuring a great experience.
The First Tee coaches seamlessly weave golf and character building activities into each lesson. As your child progresses through The First Tee’s programs, the activities and life lessons become more involved, helping your child build character and become even more equipped to make good choices on and off the golf course.

Our Programs

Spring 2016 Schedule

  • All classes begin the week of March 7th and conclude the week of May 2nd
  • There will not be any classes the week of April 13th which is Heritage Week
  • All first time players will be entered into the Player 1 Level
  • Player must pass a certification process to move to the next level
  • Players must be 9 years old to advance to Par Level
  • The starting age to enter the program is 7 years old
  • The registration fee for the 8 week session is $75, if you have more than one child in the program the fee is $60 per child

Stanford Testing 2016

CBC Homeschool STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TESTING 2016

The Stanford Achievement Test will be administered to homeschooling students this spring. This testing

situation is available to CBCCA students as well as non-CBCCA/non-CBC homeschool students. The details

are as follows:

Place: Community Bible Church, Children’s Building

Dates: May 3 – May 5, 2016 (Tuesday – Thursday)

Grades: 4 – 12

Testers: Audrey Broggi, Cindy Smith, Ninette Hodgins

Time: 8:45 – 12:00 (approximate)

Administrative Fee: $40.00 per student.

Payment preferred in the form of a check made out to CBC, with “Stanford Test fee” written in the memo.

Give to Claudia Gay or Laura Caldwell (Front Desk of main building.

Deadline is April 8. No student will be tested Without Payment.

Parents are responsible for ordering and paying for the Stanford Achievement Tests

(NOT the Stanford/OLSAT) for their child (children). The instructions are:

1. Order online (bjupresstesting.com) or call BJUP (800.845.5731). You will be ordering the Stanford

Achievement Test (the SAT/TASK) according to the grade level of your student this spring.

2. Should order by March 25, 2016 in order to ensure timely delivery to test administrator.

3. You will need to identify the tester as Ninette Hodgins. Ninette’s tester ID number is 910564.

4. BJU will require you to verify that you homeschool your child (children).

5. On the same day you order your test, please e-mail Ninette (ninette3126@hargray.com) with the following

information:

a. Child’s first, middle initial, last name c. preferred parent contact information-

– phone number or e-mail

b. Grade level d. birthdate

4. Tests will be shipped to Ninette. The day after testing she will mail the tests back to BJU. The parent

(purchaser) will be notified by BJU when the results are ready for review online, usually within 10 business

days from the day the tests are received back at BJU.

Baby Kaydence Update from Laura

The doctors said the surgery went well, she is a little swollen from the iv fluids but when she woke, she could breathe on her own so she didn’t need the breathing tube. Thank you so much for your prayers!

Baby Kaydence is healing from the heart surgery, but she was recently diagnosed with hirschsprung’s disease and will be undergoing a 3 hour surgery tomorrow morning at 7 am Texas time,9 am our time. The doctors said only a short segment of her large intestines is affected so they think they can “fix” it. Thank you all for praying.
