GSSM’s iTEAMS camp in Beaufort County

Hello!  As a GSSM parent in Beaufort County, I wanted to share with you a unique opportunity that GSSM is bringing to Beaufort County this summer.  Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship Among Middle Schoolers, better known as iTEAMS, is a day camp for rising 7th and 8th graders that inspires students to pursue careers in the fields of computer science, technology and entrepreneurship through hands-on, team-based projects.  Working cooperatively and using technology to solve problems, students explore fields like gaming, app development and cyber security.

iTEAMS will be held June 24 – 27 at Robert Smalls Middle School in Beaufort.  The camp is completely free to students!  We still have spots in the camp, so please pass this information along to any parents of middle schoolers you know.  Interested students can apply online at http://www.scgssm.org/programs-camps/iteams/iteams-student-application.

Additionally, we are looking for college-age students to serve as teaching assistants at the camp.  This is a paid position, and while anyone can apply, preference will be given to GSSM graduates.  If you know someone who might be interested in applying, they can access the TA application at http://www.scgssm.org/programs-camps/iteams/iteams-gssm-alumni-ta-application.

If you have any questions about iTEAMS, please contact Brigitte Barnett, iTEAMS Camp Coordinator and GSSM Director of Recruitment, at brigitte@scgssm.org or 803-201-9168, or Sonja Taylor, iTEAMS Camp Coordinator and GSSM Diversity Recruitment Manager, atsonja@scgssm.org or 803-252-9152.

Thanks!
